This class will run Saturday July 26 and Sunday July 27, from 10am-5pm each day (or earlier if finished).
THE CLASS
The Horizon Day Dress is a casual, easy fitting dress. It features a relaxed style drop shoulder with 3/4 length sleeves which can be worn down or cuffed. The curved bodice sits above the natural waistline, adding interest and shape to the oversized silhouette for a flattering drape. This pattern is intentionally designed with simple shapes, making it a fast and fun project to sew.
We will be sewing view A - the full skirt, non-patchwork view. This is a size-inclusive pattern designed to fit sizes XXS-6XL (31"-64" chest measurement).
You'll leave with a finished dress, a ton of new skills, and the confidence to start working on your next project. We can even help you get set up with all the supplies you need for a future project at the end of class!
SKILL LEVEL
This class is intended for Confident Beginners - you should know how to thread a sewing machine, wind the bobbin, and do basic stitching. It's ok if you haven't sewn a garment or used a sewing pattern before!
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
This class will cover the following skills:
- -Taking your own measurements & interpreting a size chart
- -Using and adjusting a sewing pattern
- -Finishing seams with a serger
- -Sewing inseam pockets
- -Gathering
- -Bias binding
- -Hemming techniques
- -And more!
WHAT'S INCLUDED
You will need to purchase fabric and thread in the shop before the class (and you should leave time to pre-wash your fabric). Come by and we'll help you pick out something suitable that matches your style.
The sewing pattern is included in the cost of the class and will be printed for you when you arrive. You'll also receive a digital file so you can re-use the pattern in the future.
If you have your own sewing machine and want to use it, feel free to bring it with you (just make sure you have all the components including bobbins, foot pedal, etc). Please reach out if you have any questions about what you need to bring.
