Confident Beginner: Intro to Sewing with Knits - Pine Raglan, July 19

This class will run Saturday, July 19, from 11am-6pm (or earlier if finished).

THE CLASS

The Pine Raglan Sweatshirt by Paradise Patterns is a classic sweatshirt with a comfortable, oversized fit. The neckband is slightly chunkier than a standard crewneck, giving the sweatshirt a vintage and unisex feel. View B has a cropped hem, giving the sweatshirt a more feminine feel. You can choose to make the whole sweatshirt in one fabric or use a rib knit for the neckband, waistband, and cuffs.

We will be sewing on both a sewing machine and a serger. You will learn techniques for sewing knit fabrics on both machines.

This pattern is size-inclusive and is designed to fit sizes chest measurements between 28”-58”.

You'll leave with a finished sweatshirt, a ton of new skills, and the confidence to start working on your next project. We can even help you get set up with all the supplies you need for a future project at the end of class!

SKILL LEVEL

This class is intended for Confident Beginners - you should know how to thread a sewing machine, wind the bobbin, and do basic stitching. It's ok if you haven't sewn a garment or used a sewing pattern or serger before!

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

This class will cover the following skills:

• -Taking your own measurements & interpreting a size chart
• -Using and adjusting a sewing pattern
• -Serger basics
• -How to sew with knits/stretch fabrics
• -How to install neckbands and cuffs
• -And more! :)

WHAT'S INCLUDED

You will need to purchase fabric and thread in the shop before the class (and you should leave time to pre-wash your fabric). Come by and we'll help you pick out something suitable that matches your style.

The sewing pattern is included in the cost of the class and will be printed for you when you arrive. You'll also receive a digital file so you can re-use the pattern in the future.

If you have your own sewing machine and want to use it, feel free to bring it with you (just make sure you have all the components including bobbins, foot pedal, etc). Please reach out if you have any questions about what you need to bring.
