THE CLASS
The Kiki Weekender by Daughter Judy Patterns is the the ultimate "I'm just throwing a few things together for the weekend" weekender. The present fold adds shape and the open top design means no zippers to break and no flaps to fiddle with. Wide shoulder straps that don't dig in no matter how recklessly you've packed. It's the perfect bag for escaping the city, crashing with friends or simply avoiding your inbox from a new zip code.
You'll leave with a finished bag, a ton of new skills, and the confidence to start working on your next project. This is a great first sewing pattern for newer sewers!
SKILL LEVEL
This class is intended for Confident Beginners - you should know how to thread a sewing machine, wind the bobbin, and do basic stitching. It's ok if you haven't used a sewing pattern before!
If you want to take this class but you don't have these skills yet, you can sign up for one of our Absolute Beginner classes to learn the basics.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
This class will cover the following skills:
✿ Using a sewing pattern
✿ Sewing with heavier fabrics
✿ Top-stitching and edge-stitching
✿ Pressing techniques for a neat finish
✿ And lots more!
WHAT'S INCLUDED
The Kiki Weekender sewing pattern is included in the cost of the class and will be printed for you when you arrive. You'll also receive a digital file (and instructions) so you can re-use the pattern as many times as you want in the future.
You will need to purchase fabric and notions in the shop before the class. Come by and we'll help you pick out something suitable that matches your style!
If you have your own sewing machine and want to use it, feel free to bring it with you (just make sure you have all the components including bobbins, foot pedal, etc). If you prefer, you can use one of our studio machines.
This class will be taught by Hannah.
-Please note that our shop will be open to the public during this class.
-This class is intended for adults ages 16 and up.

Classes and private lessons are non-refundable.
As a small business, we rely on sewing classes as part of our financial strategy. Our classes often fill up far in advance, and it can be difficult to fill a spot on short notice.
Of course we understand that things come up (even last minute!), so we ask that you read and agree to this policy before signing up for a class.
If you are no longer able to attend a class you signed up for, please email us at hi@openstudiosewing.com to let us know. If your class has a waitlist, we will do our best to fill your spot. If we are able to fill it before the class date, we'll issue you a refund in the form of store credit or to your original payment method. Store credit can be used for retail purchases or for future classes, and does not expire.
If we're not able to fill your spot, we will not be able to issue a refund.
If you are in a multi-session class and need to miss a day, you will not be able to make up the missed class. You're welcome to work on your project at home or book studio time to work on your own during shop open hours, or a private lesson (depending on availability) to get support to catch up.
