Confident Beginner: Clo Bias Skirt, October 10 & 11

This class will run Saturday, October 10 & Sunday, October 11, from 9am-3pm each day (or earlier if finished).

THE CLASS

The Clo Bias Skirt is a simple, easy to wear bias skirt sewing pattern designed for everyday life.

Cut on the bias, it gently skims the body for a soft, flattering fit without feeling restrictive. The A-line shape gives it ease and movement, making it comfortable to wear year round.

Choose between a midi or full length, both finished with an elasticated waistband and optional drawstring for comfort and adjustability.

You'll leave with a finished garment, a ton of new skills, and the confidence to start working on your next project.

This pattern is size-inclusive and designed to fit hip measurements between 35 and 52.7 inches.

SKILL LEVEL

This class is intended for Confident Beginners - you should know how to thread a sewing machine, wind the bobbin, and do basic stitching. It's ok if you haven't sewn a garment or used a sewing pattern or serger before!

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

This class will cover the following skills:

✿ Taking your own measurements & interpreting a size chart
✿ Using and adjusting a sewing pattern
✿ Working with fabric on the bias
✿ French seams (an elevated way to finish seams without a serger)
✿ Buttonholes (optional/time dependent)
✿ Making a drawstring (optional/time dependent)
✿ Working with interfacing
✿ Sewing inseam pockets with French seams
✿ Stay stitching to stabilize seams
✿ Edge-stitching and top-stitching
✿ Sewing an elasticated waistband
✿ Hemming
✿ And lots more!

WHAT'S INCLUDED
The sewing pattern is included in the cost of the class and will be printed for you when you arrive. You'll also receive the digital file (and instructions) so you can re-use the pattern as many times as you want in the future.

You will need to purchase fabric, and notions in the shop before the class (and you should leave time to pre-wash your fabric). Come by and we'll help you pick out something suitable that matches your style! Suggested fabrics include mid-weight linen, cotton, wool, silk, or rayon.

If you have your own sewing machine and want to use it, feel free to bring it with you (just make sure you have all the components including bobbins, foot pedal, etc). If you prefer, you can use one of our studio machines.

This class will be taught by Hannah.
