Confident Beginner: Rambler Pants, July 25 & 26

This class will run Saturday, July 25 & Sunday, July 26, from 10am-5pm each day (or earlier if finished).

THE CLASS

Suitable for all genders, the Rambler Pants by Friday Pattern Company are the perfect pant for any adventure. The Ramblers are a pull on pant with an elastic waistband and built in belt. They feature a faux fly and slightly tapered legs. Store all your goodies in the slanted side pockets, and for a little extra carrying capacity you’ve got fun patch pockets on the sideseams. The Ramblers are designed to be loose without being baggy. Get ready to ramble in these super comfy and cool pants!

You'll leave with a finished pair of pants, a ton of new skills, and the confidence to start working on your next project.

We will be sewing on both a sewing machine and a serger. You will learn techniques for sewing on both machines.

This pattern is size-inclusive and is designed to fit waist measurements up to 58" and hip measurements up to 59".

SKILL LEVEL

This class is intended for Confident Beginners - you should know how to thread a sewing machine, wind the bobbin, and do basic stitching. It's ok if you haven't sewn a garment or used a sewing pattern or serger before!

Because this pattern has lots of fun details, it may take a bit more time and patience to complete than some of our other Confident Beginner-level classes. If you're up for the challenge and have a positive attitude, we'd love to guide you through this skill-building pattern!

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

This class will cover the following skills:

✿ Taking your own measurements & interpreting a size chart
✿ Using and adjusting a sewing pattern
✿ Serger basics
✿ Pressing techniques for a neat finish
✿ Inserting an elastic waistband
✿ Working with fusible interfacing
✿ Sewing a faux fly (optional & time-dependent)
✿ Using a buckle (optional)
✿ Hemming
✿ Adding pockets (both patch and slash pockets)
✿ Top-stitching and edge-stitching
✿ And lots more!

WHAT'S INCLUDED
The Rambler Pants sewing pattern is included in the cost of the class and will be printed for you when you arrive. You'll also receive a digital file (and instructions) so you can re-use the pattern as many times as you want in the future.

You will need to purchase fabric, and notions in the shop before the class (and you should leave time to pre-wash your fabric). Come by and we'll help you pick out something suitable that matches your style!

If you have your own sewing machine and want to use it, feel free to bring it with you (just make sure you have all the components including bobbins, foot pedal, etc). If you prefer, you can use one of our studio machines. We will also provide sergers.

This class will be taught by Shannon.
