This class will run Wednesday, July 15, from 9:30-11:30am.
Join Kristin from the Material Girls and get to know your coverstitch machine!
The coverstitch machine is the best way to hem knits! In this class, you will learn to thread/set up your machine and some techniques that will make hemming easy. We will also explore other applications for your coverstitch machine.
Your coverstitch machine may be a standalone machine (there is no blade that moves up and down) or part of a combination serger/coverstitch machine (there are 5 or more spool pins on your machine). If you aren’t sure, please email the instructor with a picture or the make and model at materialgirlsewing@gmail.com.
No experience with coverstitch necessary.
What to bring:
✿ Coverstitch or combination serger/coverstitch machine
✿ Manual and all accessories
✿ Foot control for machine
✿ A tee shirt you’d like to hem (any old tee will do, and you may bring more than one just in case!)
✿ 3 cones/spools of thread (match color of tee if you like)
This class is open to adults ages 16 and up.

Classes and private lessons are non-refundable.
As a small business, we rely on sewing classes as part of our financial strategy. Our classes often fill up far in advance, and it can be difficult to fill a spot on short notice.
Of course we understand that things come up (even last minute!), so we ask that you read and agree to this policy before signing up for a class.
If you are no longer able to attend a class you signed up for, please email us at hi@openstudiosewing.com to let us know. If your class has a waitlist, we will do our best to fill your spot. If we are able to fill it before the class date, we'll issue you a refund in the form of store credit or to your original payment method. Store credit can be used for retail purchases or for future classes, and does not expire.
If we're not able to fill your spot, we will not be able to issue a refund.
If you are in a multi-session class and need to miss a day, you will not be able to make up the missed class. You're welcome to work on your project at home or book studio time to work on your own during shop open hours, or a private lesson (depending on availability) to get support to catch up.
