Intermediate: Coe Trousers, Tuesday Evenings (August & September)

Join us for a 6-week long workshop that will walk you through all the steps of sewing the Coe Trousers by Daughter Judy Patterns.

This class will be held on Wednesday evenings beginning on August 4th, for 6 weeks (see below for dates). Please note that there will be no class on August 18th.

THE CLASS

The Coe Trouser is sculptural but not stiff, relaxed but not sloppy, just undeniably cool in that "I bought these at a store you haven't heard of" kind of way. It's high waisted with a side seam that wraps slightly forward, giving the leg its unique shape. They go with everything because they are everything. The main character in an otherwise quiet outfit and the reason you'll finally stop buying pants you secretly hate.

You'll leave with a finished pair of pants, a ton of new skills, and the confidence to start working on your next project.

This pattern is size inclusive and is designed to fit hip measurements from 35.5" to 66.5".

SKILL LEVEL

This class is intended for Intermediate sewers - you should feel very comfortable threading a sewing machine, winding the bobbin, stitching in a straight line and backtacking, and hemming. You should also have sewn at least a couple garments and be comfortable using a sewing pattern. It's ok if you haven't used a serger before.

If you want to take this class but you don't have these skills yet, you can sign up for our Learn to Sew Series (or another Absolute Beginner class) to start building a strong foundation of sewing skills!

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

This class will cover the following skills:

✿ Simple pattern adjustments (please note that we will not be covering fitting in depth)
✿ Serger basics
✿ Sewing a zipper fly & waistband
✿ Pressing techniques for a neat finish
✿ Buttons and buttonholes
✿ Sewing side and patch pockets
✿ Sewing darts
✿ Working with interfacing
✿ Top stitching and edge stitching
✿ Hemming techniques
✿ And lots more!

WHAT'S INCLUDED

The Coe Trouser sewing pattern is included in the cost of the class and will be printed for you when you arrive. You'll also receive a digital file (and instructions) so you can re-use the pattern as many times as you want in the future.

You will need to purchase fabric and notions in the shop before the class (and you'll want to leave time to pre-wash your fabric). Come by and we'll help you pick out something suitable that matches your style!

If you have your own sewing machine and want to use it, feel free to bring it with you (just make sure you have all the components including bobbins, foot pedal, etc). If you prefer, you can use one of our studio machines. We will also provide sergers.
