Intermediate: Faye Swimsuit, August 15 & 16

This class will run Saturday, August 15 & Sunday, August 16 from 9am-4pm each day (or earlier if finished).

THE CLASS

Function meets form with the Faye Swimsuit by Closet Core Patterns, a modern, versatile, and fully lined swimsuit. With a clean finish and minimalist design lines, the Faye Swimsuit features a scoop neckline and a slightly cheeky cut, with enough variations to create a full wardrobe of swimwear. In this class, we will be sewing the view A top (a bikini top with straight straps) and your choice of view A or B bottoms (high- or mid-rise bikini bottoms).

You'll leave this class with a finished swimsuit, a ton of new skills, and the confidence to start working on your next project.

We will be sewing on both a sewing machine and a serger. You will learn techniques for sewing on both machines.

This pattern is size-inclusive and is designed to fit bust measurements up to 60" and hip measurements up to 62".

SKILL LEVEL

This class is intended for Intermediate sewers - you should feel very comfortable threading a sewing machine, winding the bobbin, stitching in a straight line and backtacking, and hemming. You should also have sewn at least a couple garments and be comfortable using a sewing pattern. It's ok if you haven't used a serger before (though some serger experience will help!).

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

This class will cover the following skills:

✿ Serger techniques
✿ Elastic insertion techniques
✿ Topstitching on knits
✿ Working with linings
✿ And lots more!

WHAT'S INCLUDED

The PDF sewing pattern is included in the cost of the class and will be printed for you when you arrive. You'll also receive a digital file (and instructions) so you can re-use the pattern as many times as you want in the future.

You will need to purchase fabric and notions before the class (and you should leave time to pre-wash your fabric). We'll send out and email with more information ahead of the class, so you can prepare.

If you have your own sewing machine and want to use it, feel free to bring it with you (just make sure you have all the components including bobbins, foot pedal, etc). If you prefer, you can use one of our studio machines. We will also provide sergers.

This class will be taught by Taylor.
